TOPIC: Help with Encoder counts calculation

Help with Encoder counts calculation 4 years 2 weeks ago #1593

Hi, is it possible to calculate how many encoder counts it would take a SM34505D motor (running velocity mode) to go from a known velocity - which will be variable, say its VT=2276800 for an example, to a new VT=0 with a fixed ADT=500?

I've had a look on the Class 5 developer work sheet but can't come up with a working equation.
My numbers don't add up - I'd expect less encoder counts the slower it is but I'm getting the opposite.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Cameron

Hi Cameron,
An update to the Class 5 developer will be made soon to allow for this equation.

I will post as soon as it's available. Here's a "backdoor" work around for testing though.. using the PTSD command.

Note: Download the "Command Reference Guide" for reference if needed for the PTSD command... www.animatics.com/index.php?option=com_c...mand+Reference+Guide

If you use the PRTS() command with only one axis specified.. you can command a relative distance move(32bit signed). You have control with VTS and ADTS.
When the PRTS()command is executed... you can move the PTSD value into a variable.

'Conditional command here using bits from status word 7 to determine accel/decel starting/ending
d=PTSD 'is a valid command... and is in encoder counts during the move
'Some math using current position and value returned from PTSD

I haven't heard anything yet, but I will shake the tree again.

Can you tell me more about your application?
