I have the following:
SM1720D smartmotor
CBLIO-ISO1 I/O cable
CBLSM1 communications/power cable
PS24V20AF110-S1 dc power supply

I have a question on the I/O cable, specifically the leads for the control power (+red and -black. Do I wire these to the power supply that is also running the motor?
It is an I/O cable and I am not sure if this should run to the PLC power supply?

Don't hook up the control power pins on a non -DE motor. Pin 14 is internally connected to A2 and Pin 15 is internally connected to A1. This would cause a ground loop.

Be sure that the control power wires (connected to pins 14 and 15) don't short out to anything. They will have whatever voltage A1 and A2 have.

Thanks csearcy. I have the wires hooked up and verified. Now I need to make a note that when I turn my plc output ON, I turn off the input on the smartmotor.
