I am using a SM3450D Smart Motor with 415C firmware.

Is there any way to get the index pulse from the motor such that I could view it on the oscilloscope with the other encoder outputs? I am currently using the smart motor to spin a rotor at a certain velocity with a mechanism I am testing on the other end and I would to be able to see the index pulse in real time.

I have tried writing a software program that sets a GPIO high if it sees the index pulse, however, I get a lot of variation in encoder position where the index pulse occurs.

Has anyone had any luck trying to bring an index pulse out of the Smart Motor?

There isn't any support in the V4.15C firmware to access the index pulse. If the rpm of the motor is low enough, you may be able to trigger an output based on the change in the I variable. The Class5 motors (version 5.0 or higher) also do not have an index pulse output, but there are some tricks they can do to pulse an output based on the position of the rotor... that can emulate the index after homing to the index pulse.
