I'm building a 3 axis duplicator using two SM1720D 4.15t motors, one on X and one on Y. I've got them running in Mode Follow on HEDS style encoders and the setup is working well so far. For the Z axis, I've purchased a used SM2310SQ 4.15b (got a great deal on it, only reason I'm using it). I didn't know much about the earlier Smartmotors that use 5 inline connectors. Animatics SMI says the motor doesn't have an eeprom when I try to download my program. I can download my Mode Follow program to the motor but it doesn't seem to actually take. The motor came without the small external memory chip. I'm wondering if this plug-in memory chip is needed to run any programs. Will the memory chip allow the earlier inline connector motors to run programs like the more current double DB plug motors?
The motor seems to work properly using Playground.
Does anyone have any experience using these motors?
