Moog Animatics Introduces State-of-the-Art Class 6 D-style SmartMotor™

Murphy, NC., USA, April 21, 2022 – Moog Animatics is pleased to announce the launch of its new Class 6 D-style SmartMotor range. This new SmartMotor^TM expands the capabilities of the already highly programmable servosystem, integrating motor, multiturn absolute encoder, amplifier, and controller along with a range of communication options including USB, dual port Industrial Ethernet (EtherCAT^®, PROFINET^®, Ethernet IP) along with the traditional RS-232/RS-485, and CAN connections.

The extended power range, together with a wider ambient operating temperature range (- 20°C/- 4°F to 100°C/212°F), significantly expands the field of application of the Class 6D in areas such as autonomous guided vehicles, agriculture automation and a broader range of industrial automation applications. This is achieved by meeting the ever-increasing demands of machine builders and designers who need a versatile, precise, and fully integrated motion control environment.

With no battery in its encoder, separate 24V power supply, no gears and easy connection to diagnostics over USB, the Class 6D SmartMotor significantly enhances system efficiency, reducing fault points and maintenance downtimes.
