Hello

I've some class 6 ethernet/ip smartmotors: is possible to modify the protocol to profinet? Firmware profinet is loaded but devices doesn't apper in online nodes (but appear with ethernet/ip firmware) but with this firmware I've only assigned ip address, when I try to assign profinet name or reset profinet address and name to default (with tia portal but the result is the same with proneta or s7 manager, in every case with positive acknowledgement) the smarmotor switch to watchdog error (led 0, 3 flashes) and isolates from any comunication channel, the only way to restore it is a power cycle but : the ip address is maintained and the profinet name not.

Thanks in advance for any tips and answer

Only newer EIP motors are capable of switching between ethernet protocols. In the terminal, please issue the command "RETH(7)". What is the response?

Hello

after a various mails, phone calls and many more tests we have found that there's a big bug in 6.0.2.28 firmware : the station name if is writed by tia portal, proneta or similar tools produce that's result: in order

a) watchdog error (3 blinks on led 0)
b) f the power cycle is short ( less than 10 second or something else) the station name is retain
c)if the power cycle is long the station name is reset to default

The only wey to write permanently the station name (also when the motor is power off for several hours or days) is write it using the console of Smart Motor Interface when the motor is connected by usb cable using

SNAME("TheNameOfTheStation")
Z

The first line write the name on the smart motor, the second one (Z) act as reboot the smart motor.

Problem solved? No!! Only Problem Patched.

Because that is a profinet non-standard behavior because

A) the station name could be write also with thir-part tools
B) reboot after station name written isn't standard behavior
C) Resetting the whole PN interface to default isn't possible (again apper watchdog error)

We have gain the results after a morning of tests with the dealer, that has promised a rich report to Deutschland technical office: we hope in a fast upgrade of firmware that solves these issues

Regards
