The orign change when re-power

When the motor power off and then power on the, the orign will be set to current position automaticlly. How to solve the problem, who can help me? Thank you very much!

A homing routine is required for the normal "incremental encoders". You can home to a switch or to a hard stop.

If your application won't allow you to re-home after a power loss, then you would need to use our SM23165MT-FB01 or SM34165MT-FB01 as they have a battery backed "absolute" encoder that only needs to be homed once. After the initial home, the motor will remember it's position even after a power loss.

Hi, Karma, thank you very much for your kindly reply. The model of motor we are using is SM23375DT. Do you mean I should add a sensor or switch in the fixture? When the motor go to the position where switch work, it stop and set the current position as the orign. Like this, we can keep the motor orign in the same position, right? Thank you again!

Yes. That is correct. A sensor would allow you to do a "homing routine" that would establish the origin of the encoder. O=0 will reset the encoder position to a value of 0 after the sensor has been found. Usually, it is best to do a velocity mode move to the switch to "find" it. Then you may want to move off the sensor at a slow speed to find when the sensor "edge". When the sensor changes states, you should stop the motor with an "S" (Stop Immediately) command before using the O=0 command.
